In the "Grey's Anatomy" mid-season premiere, Dr. Meredith Grey bids farewell to Grey-Sloan Memorial and her colleagues as she and her family decide to move to Boston. Deadline states that the actor will return for the Season 19 finale on May 18, which seems to open up the possibility that Ellen Pompeo may reprise her character occasionally.
In a November 2022 Instagram post, she also hinted that her farewell from "Grey's Anatomy" this season might not be her last appearance on the show. Even with her diminished role on the series, Pompeo still serves as an executive producer, with this position set to continue.
The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that the actor is slated to appear on and executive produce a limited series for Hulu revolving around a couple who adopts an orphan. Although new projects will now consume Pompeo's time, fans can still expect her to revise Dr. Grey occasionally.
