It should come as no surprise that Millie Bobby Brown is starring as Princess Elodie, the young woman who's forced to pick up her sword and become a dragon-slayer, but who will be joining her in this tale of swords and scaly beasts? Well, Angela Bassett of "What's Love Got to Do With It" and "Black Panther: Wakanda Forever" will star as Lady Bayford, Elodie's stepmother. Nick Robinson of "Love, Simon" has also joined the cast, apparently as Prince Henry — the royal who's supposedly going to marry Elodie ... until we learn what's really in store for our protagonist.
The cast will also include veteran actors Robin Wright and Ray Winstone. Wright has to be an intentional bit of meta casting, as she famously played damsel-in-distress Buttercup in the very winky, tongue-in-cheek comedy classic "The Princess Bride." And while Winstone is best known for playing scary gangster types, he's also worked on fantasy movies like "Puss in Boots: The Last Wish" and "The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe." Wright will play the evil queen luring Elodie to her doom, although we're unsure who Winstone is portraying at this moment.
Additionally, we'll see the likes of Brooke Carter and Shohreh Aghdashloo. Carter is a relative newcomer to the Hollywood scene, although she's appeared in shows such as "The Alienist" and "The Peripheral." Aghdashloo, however, has been in the business for quite a while, starring in everything from the recent horror-comedy "Renfield" to the 2003 melodrama "House of Sand and Fog."
